Reiki

Reiki is an ancient self-development, meditation and healing system that was rediscovered in Japan early last century. Its core purpose is creating more balance and vitality in all aspects of your life; your mind, your emotions, your body and your connections with other.

Reiki means 'Universal Life Energy'. Eastern medicine, yoga and martial arts have always worked with this energy; it is known as 'Ki' in Japan, as 'Chi' in China, and 'Prana' in India.

As a complementary method, Reiki is being used in GP surgeries, hospices, cancer support groups and drug rehabilitation. However, Reiki treatments do not replace seeking medical advice if you have a health problem.

You may benefit from Reiki if:

  • You feel worn-out and tense and suffer from stress-related illnesses or insomnia
  • You need an energy boost for a specific goal, for example improving a relationship or giving up smoking
  • You would like to relax and do something good for yourself after a tough week

What happens in a Session

Reiki energy is all around us. The practitioner channels it through her hands by softly touching a series of positions on or above the body. You can say whether you like your Reiki hands-on or in your aura. Private parts will of course never be touched, and there is no need to remove any clothing.
Reiki may be felt as a flow of energy, a mild tingling, warmth, coolness, balancing emotions, or nothing at all. After the session, you will feel relaxed and calm, and may want to rest for a while.

Sessions / Costs

  • Regular Treatment: £70/hour
  • Reiki with Mentoring: £90/90min; Reiki session with a longer debrief,  and additional elements, such as breathing or tai chi exercises, or a guided meditation.

Learn Reiki for Self-Treatment

Giving yourself Reiki - either hands-on or through breathing and meditation exercises - is a great way to release stress, balance your emotions, practise mindfulness and generate more energy. It can re-generate your self-healing ability and help release tension, anxiety and pain. It helps you focus, find new solutions and overcome inner barriers.

Reiki is a  great supporting tool that can be used every day. You don't have to set aside a special time, it can be done in a ten minutes break at work, on public transport or before you fall asleep. It is ideal for you if you...
  • work a lot and feel under pressure
  • juggle different roles and responsibilities
  • are challenged with relationship issues
  • suffer from anxiety or stress
  • experienced a loss and are grieving
  • go through a major change in your life
  • aim to release an addiction or an eating disorder
  • live with a long-term illness

Reiki Training

Andrea teaches all levels of Usui Reiki (up to Master/Teacher). Currently in private lessons or groups of two. Courses will be offered again at a later date.

The Impact of Reiki:
Read more about the Scientific Evidence of Reiki's many benefits

Reiki is well researched and many health care professionals (including the NHS) accept it as a complimentary therapy. The UK Reiki Federation has published a summary of a variety of studies that measure the impact of Reiki as a Healing Art. Please note: Reiki does not replace a visit to the GP or a mental health care professional if you feel unwell.   Download the study here (pdf file).
We would love to hear from you.
